INTRODUCTION
The gate of the eye, which is also referred to as the windows of or to the soul plays a strategic role in transmitting the information that comes through it to the mind. The eyes dominate emotional communication because what we allow through the gate of our eyes will eventually drip into our mind which is the centre of our thoughts, feelings, and reasoning. For any believer to stay pure and honour Christ always, the person must consciously set a guard over what they permit to come through the gate of their eyes. Job 31:1.

People with ‘spiritual defective eyes’ characteristically exhibit the following works of the flesh: They are full of lust of the flesh to practise all forms of ungodliness 1 John 2:16. Such individuals lack the fear of God and are therefore constantly exposed to iniquity and immorality Roman 3:18. Their eyes are full of adulterous desires, and they find themselves helpless against the temptation to commit sin 2 Peter 2:14. They are blinded by darkness and filled with hatred for the people around them 1 John 2:11. They find it a struggle to do what is right and are full of pride in their heart Proverbs 28:27b; Proverbs 30:12-13. These types of defective eyes love to sleep because they are lazy and are disposed to do evil things. Proverbs 20:13; Proverbs 16:30.
2. SANCTIFIED EYES
Sanctified eyes are the by-product of a regenerated life in Christ Jesus consciously developed by believers in Christ Jesus. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, sanctified eyes are guarded against any form of pollution. We must develop the self-will to restrain our eyes from roaming unnecessarily and to control what we allow to always pass through the gate of our eyes Galatians 5:22-23. Develop a personal resolve to only expose the eyes to things that will be of benefit to it Job 31:1. Also,we must consciously guard our eyes against any exposure to vile things Psalm 101:3. There are some publications, films we must deliberately refuse to watch or feed our eyes on 1 Thessalonians 5:22.
It is important to be disciplined enough to always: guide our eyes and to quickly take it off anything that can pollute our minds. This must be done on purpose to avoid any contamination Genesis 9:22-25. As believers, we must be conscious of where we are and quickly leave any environment or activity that can harm us through our eyes 2 Samuel 11-1-2
CONCLUSION
Believers who desire to honour God and keep their minds clean must scrutinise what they allow through gate of their eyes which ultimately is the window into their soul.
